HafenCity Hamburg GmbH

HafenCity Hamburg GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of the City of Hamburg. As an urban development manager, landowner and infrastructure developer, it bundles the activities in Europe's largest city centre development project. HafenCity sets future-oriented standards through particularly sustainable urban development that primarily encompasses different ecological as well as economic and social aspects. Sustainability is initiated at many levels, for example for buildings, mobility and thermal energy supplies. The latter is ensured in HafenCity by decentralised combined heat and power plants as well as by fuel cells, solar systems and geothermal plants. At the same time, HafenCity Hamburg GmbH is already promoting during the planning phase the reduction of the primary energy required during building operations far beyond the statutory requirements.
